Peanut Butter Chocolates
These scrumptious Peanut Butter Chocolates are so ridiculously delicious, they are a serious danger to your waistline! Only make these when you are planning to give (most of) them away.
These are like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, only bigger & better! When I first made them I was hooked immediately! Easy and quick to make, they are great for giving away or presenting them at your own party, or just for tea with your friends.
This is the basic recipe; of course you can experiment with the ingredients. For instance: you can add soft caramel to the filling (don’t mix!), or replace the filling with something else entirely!
This recipe will make you about 12 Peanut Butter Chocolates; for more you multiply to your heart’s desire.
• Paper baking cups for Mini Muffins
• 200 gr. of good quality melting chocolate (dark, milk or white)
• 125 gr. (4 oz) of creamy peanut butter (the smoothest you can get)
• 1 tbs. of butter
• 1 tbs. of honey
• colorful cake decorations (optional)
Use a mini muffin baking tray for nice round candies. Place your paper cups inside the tray. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. You could also use your microwave: heat for 1 minute on 600 watt – stir – repeat as often as needed. Careful though, because it is easy to burn your chocolate this way! Your chocolate should be nice and runny, so you can poor it.
Now spoon some of the hot chocolate into a paper cup, and turn it on its side and around, to cover the sides for about 4/5 of the height. When done, put the tray in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to harden the chocolates.
Put the peanut butter, honey and butter into a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Mix well. It will be quite runny, but that’s okay – easier to fill your cups with! Now spoon or pipe into your refrigerated chocolate cups to just under the end of your chocolate lining. (The peanut butter shouldn’t touch the paper cup.)
Replace in refrigerator for a couple of minutes for the peanut butter mixture to set.
Reheat your chocolate for about 30 seconds in the microwave (or longer if you use a double boiler), and spoon over the peanut butter filling. If you wish, you can now decorate your sweets with little cake decorations, sprinkles or mini M&M’s. Refrigerate for about 1 hour. Presto!
